Intro: A turning point in Jesus’ Ministry, His public ministry is over. His hour has come, now is the Lord’s Supper. He would drink from the cup of God’s wrath. Jesus loves them in service, sermons and sacrificial death. See also Luke 22:14-16 and Luke 22:24-27.
I. A demonstration of pure servant hood, John 13:1-11. John 13:5 is an example of effective service that never would be forgotten, a lesson on pure servant hood. In John 13:8-9, Peter, like many of us, is trying to take control of what the Lord is freely giving. The “bath” symbolized Salvation. When you are born again you get a Spiritual bath, Revelation 1:5. Water has no power to wash away sin, Colossians 2:13
II. A declaration of pure servant hood, John 13:12-17. We aught to become a servant to all, John 13:15. We are not blessed in knowing if we are not doing, see John 13:17.

Personal Application:
1. Jesus Christ today would like you to wash His feet. Would you wash His feet? Only (our) pride will prevent us. See Matthew 25:40.
2. Jesus wants to wash your feet, but again, it is only (our) pride that will prevent Him.

Thank you so much for these notes. I am rarely sick but was yesterday and missed service. This particular topic is close to me, since the event of Christ’s washing the disciples’ feet is what touched me to turn my life around.
