Intro: Through prayers, faith, and devotion a mother is the heart of a home. Hannah is crushed over her inability to have a baby and she goes directly to the Lord in prayer. Hannah knew God was/is bigger than culture, see Judges 21:25 and 1 Samuel 1:1-2. Samuel was born at a time of great darkness.
Principle #1: We ought to begin raising child even before baby is conceived, see 1 Samuel 1:11. Hannah has gone to God first in prayer and is praying specifically before the baby was conceived.
Principle #2: The children God blesses you/me and Hannah with should beseen as a gift from God and given back to Him, see 1 Samuel 1:20. Hannah made a Nazirite vow, see 1 Samuel 1:11 and Numbers 6:5.
Principle #3: Never waiver in your prayer life, see James 5:16. Hannah is going to God first for help, see 1 Samuel 1:12-16. Hannah knew in faith God had spoken directly to Eli and she was glad in the Lord, see 1 Samuel 1:17-18.
Principle #4: Understand the battle is won or lost in the small things of life, see 1 Samuel 1:19-22. Hannah’s maternal wisdom is evident, see 1 Samuel 1:23-28. Samuel saw his mother go to the House of the Lord. Samuel is used by God to anoint David, see 1 Samuel 3:19-20 and 1 Samuel 16:1-13.
Personal Application:
1. We can go directly to God in prayer, like Hannah.
2. If you want Godly children – you need to be a Godly person, see Isaiah 58:13-14 and Exodus 20:8.
3. A Godly home produces Godly children, see 1 Samuel 2:26 and Luke 2:52.
4. God has a plan for each one of our children and every position is significant to the Lord, see Psalm 37:4 and 3 John 1:4.
5. What mother’s do is important to God, see Titus 2:5 and 2 Timothy 1:5.
