Intro: A warning that NO-ONE can get away with sin - ever.
A reminder that in difficult times God can be trusted.
I. God renews His perspective concerning the Reliability of Scripture.
A. The reliability of Scripture concerning its truth, Habakkuk 2:1,2.
B. The reliability of Scripture concerning its timing, Habakkuk 2:3.
C. The reliability of Scripture concerning its trustworthiness, (the righteous will live by faith) Habakkuk 2:4, Romans 8:28.
II. God renews His perspective concerning the retribution of the sinner.
A. The woe against their crimes, Habakkuk 2:6-8.
B. The woe against their covetousness, Habakkuk 2:9-11, Luke 12:15-22, 1 Timothy 6:10.
C. The woe against their cruelty, Habakkuk 2:12-14.
D. The woe against their carousing, Habakkuk 2:15-17, Proverbs 23:19-35.
E. The woe against their cults, Habakkuk 2:18.
- Why were they involved in idolatry?
1. They had a darkened view of God, Romans 1:18-25, Psalm 14:1.
2. They had a distorted worship of God, Habakkuk 2:19, Exodus 20:4,5 and 2 Chronicles 28:24.
3. They need a deepened reverence for God, Habakkuk 2:20.
