Intro: part of SERMON ON THE MOUNT. A Christian’s private life and public life. Two problems: greed and anxiety.
I. Principle #1: The question of our treasure Matthew 6:19-21. Do not be a covetous (Marked by extreme desire to acquire or possess) person. Lay up treasure in Heaven 1 Timothy 6:17.
II. Principle #2: The question of our vision Matthew 6:22-23. Everything your body does your eye see Judges 21:25. Contentment 1 Timothy 6:6. A happy family life Psalm 128:2.
III. Principle #3: The question of our service Matthew 6:24. Can I say: Christ is Lord over my life? Do I have real treasure that I can never loose?
IV. Principle #4: The question of our ambition Matthew 6:25-34. Why we worry Matthew 6:25. World thinkers- Eat, drink and be merry. Why we don’t have to worry Matthew 6:26. Worry exhibits a lack of faith Matthew 6:28-29, Hebrews 11:6 and Romans 14:23. Look to put God first and you won’t have to worry Matthew 6:33.
Personal: If you worry you bury God’s blessing of today by worrying about tomorrow. Worry will drain you of your strength Psalm 103:14.
