Intro: Have you ever wondered why we do what we do when we come to CHURCH? Is it user friendly or GOD friendly?
1. The Lord’s People. Acts 20:4 The first century church was very diverse. Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
2. The Lord’s Work. Malachi 3:10 and 1 Corinthians 16:1-3 Now about the collection for God’s people: Do what I told the Galatian churches to do. On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made. Then, when I arrive, I will give letters of introduction to the men you approve and send them with your gift to Jerusalem.
3. The Lord’s Day. Genesis 2:3 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Exodus 31:16,17 and Ezekiel 20:12 Also I gave them my Sabbaths as a sign between us, so they would know that I the LORD made them holy.
4. The Lord’s Table. Acts 20:7 On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. Paul spoke to the people and, because he intended to leave the next day, kept on talking until midnight. 1 Corinthians 11:26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.
5. The Lord’s Word. Because they (slaves) worked, they met in the evening. Acts 20:11 Then he (Paul) went upstairs again and broke bread and ate. After talking until daylight, he left. They had a heart to hear the Word of God. Mark 4:9 Then Jesus said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
Personal:
*Set my schedule around learning God’s Word and fellowshipping.
*I will not be offended by God’s Words.
