Proverbs
Like many Christians, I have tried to adopt the habit of reading a chapter of Proverbs each day as a morning devotional. There are 31 chapters in this book of wisdom, and most of our months have 30 or 31 days. The world likes to say that “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” but I would like to think that “a chapter of Proverbs a day keeps the devil at bay”. So today being February 2, my reading was in Proverbs 2 this morning. The Lord showed me an interesting outline for this chapter that I have never noticed before, so I thought that I would share it with you.
In Proverbs 2, we find that there are:
3 proposals (Proverbs 2:1-5)
3 principles (Proverbs 2:6-9)
3 purposes (Proverbs 2:10-22)
The 3 proposals:
1. If we will receive His words and hide His commandments (Proverbs 2:1)
2. If we will cry after knowledge and lift up our voices for understanding (Proverbs 2:3)
3. If we will seek knowledge as silver and search for it like hidden treasure (Proverbs 2:4)
Proverbs 2:5
The 3 principles:
1. The LORD gives wisdom (Proverbs 2:6)
2. He lays up wisdom for the righteous (Proverbs 2:7)
3. He keeps the paths of judgment (Proverbs 2:8)
Proverbs 2:9
The 3 purposes of why Solomon has written these things: (Proverbs 2:10-22)
1. To deliver us from the way of the evil man (Proverbs 2:12).
2. To deliver us from the strange (immoral) woman (Proverbs 2:16)
3. To encourage us to walk in the way of good men and keep the paths of the righteous (Proverbs 2:20).

May God add His rich blessings to the reading of His word!
